As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) student at Excelsior Health Care Academy, you will have daily hands-on experiences with patients by helping them with procedures such as taking vital signs, performing an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood draws, hemodialysis and other needs. You’ll work in settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, dialysis facilities and home health care agencies.
Patient Care Technician 11 is the same course as PCT but advanced. PCT course prepares the student to work in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, dialysis centers, emergency rooms, and much more
Whether or not you have ever worked in a care industry, you can easily develop the appropriate CNA skills with the proper training and practice. Essentially, a CNA needs to be able to assist patients in things like sitting up, transferring them to chairs or other beds and even walking. They also need to learn how to help a patient with showering or bathing and proper positioning in order to avoid any injury or strain.
This comprehensive EKG Technician certificate program provides hands-on training. Students will learn to take and interpret EKG readings. Topics cover anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contacts, and the use of the EKG monitor
